Even high-quality pavers can fail if installed incorrectly. In Calgary’s freeze-thaw climate, small mistakes turn into big problems fast.

Mistake #1: Skipping Proper Excavation
Not digging deep enough leads to frost heave and sinking.
✔ Solution: Excavate 6–8" for patios and 10–12" for driveways.

Mistake #2: Poor Base Compaction
Loose base = shifting pavers.
✔ Solution: Compact in layers with a plate compactor.

Mistake #3: Using the Wrong Base Material
Sand alone won’t hold up in Alberta.
✔ Solution: Use road crush or limestone.
