Sod may be delivered loose, piled, hand-stacked, tossed, or dumped depending on the order size, truck setup, site conditions, and delivery location.
Because this option does not use pallets, pieces may become bent, torn, compressed, broken, or otherwise damaged during transportation and unloading.

We also believe customers deserve transparency. While professional pallet delivery remains our preferred and recommended method, this option allows customers to choose the delivery style that best fits their budget and project needs while understanding the trade-offs involved.
Why Delivery Method Matters
Sod is a living, perishable product. Like any plant, the more it is handled, moved, stacked, transported, and unloaded, the greater the chance of root disturbance, tearing, compression, and physical damage.
Professional pallet delivery remains our preferred method because it reduces handling, protects the sod during transport, makes unloading cleaner, and helps preserve the quality of the product when it arrives.
This no-pallet option is available for customers who want to avoid pallet-related costs and understand that loose sod does not receive the same level of protection as palletized delivery.
Proper Equipment Matters
Direct Landscape Supply uses properly rated trucks, trailers, forklifts, and commercial-grade delivery equipment designed to transport and unload heavy sod loads safely.
Heavy materials should be moved with equipment built for the weight being carried. Using the right equipment helps protect the sod during transport while also helping keep our employees, customers, their families, and other motorists safer on Alberta roads.
When ordering sod from any supplier, it is worth asking how the product will be delivered, what equipment will be used, and whether the delivery setup is designed for the weight being transported.

Fresh Sod Harvested for Your Order
All sod is harvested fresh from the farms specifically for your order. Because sod is perishable, we recommend ordering 1–3 business days in advance during peak season to help secure availability and preferred delivery dates.
Customer Must Be Ready
Loose sod should be installed as soon as possible after delivery. Have your area prepared before the truck arrives and be ready to move, install, and water the sod immediately.
Delivery Information
- Delivery available Monday–Saturday, weather permitting
- Orders should ideally be placed 1–3 business days in advance
- Orders placed before 2:00 PM may qualify for next-day delivery
- Delivery pricing varies by distance, access, equipment, and load size
Delivery Areas
We deliver sod across Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Okotoks, Cochrane, High River, Strathmore, and surrounding Alberta communities.
Sod Roll Sizes & Coverage
- Rolls measure approximately 2 ft × 5 ft
- Each roll covers approximately 10 sq. ft.
- Order in 10 sq. ft. increments
- We recommend ordering an additional 5% for trimming and waste
Important Sod Care Information
Sod should ideally be installed within 24 hours of delivery, especially during hot weather. Loose sod may dry out or heat up faster than palletized sod depending on weather, handling, and placement.
